Response to Friday
After our class forum,
I have found that many students had similar interpretations of the themes from
various poems in Turtle Island. Many
of the poems directly relate to the environment. There are poems about the
past, present, and future of the natural world. It was also brought to my
attention that Snyder does not leave his questions unanswered. For every
criticism he makes he offers a way to change things. However controversial his
ideas may be I find this to be admirable. Too many people criticize without
offering suggestions on how something could be improved. Snyder doesn’t do
this, and this shows that he wanted to take an active role in the way the
environment developed.
